Lorraine is currently In Progress with her 500 Hour yoga teacher training through Yoga Medicine. Due to the pandemic, they’ve brought many of their teacher trainings online! Lorraine just completed the shoulder module and plans to also complete the nervous system & restorative yoga training soon. Maybe we can see each other online!
BOOKS
There are several books that a both yoga related and non-yoga related that have shaped not only who lorraine is but how she teaches. The goal is simply to share with this community. As always - take what you want from these suggestions, leave what you don’t :) in no particular order.
THe body keeps the score - by bessel van der kolk, md
This is such an interesting read as it discusses the affects of trauma on the body and how practices like yoga and meditation can impact those who have been impacted by deep trauma in their lives.
THe latte factor - by David Bach and John David Mann
Although this is book doesn’t have anything to do with yoga, we thought it was an amazing read. If you’re looking for a personal finance book that talks about the subject through story, this is a great find.
Meditate your weight - tiffany cruikshank
This book clearly outlines what meditation is and what it is not. It then guides you through a 21 day meditation practice that gives you the tools to become more aware of what you fuel your body with and how those things make you feel. It’s for anyone interested in meditation, not only for those wanting to lose weight.
the power of vulnerability - dr. brene brown
We are a HUGE fan of Dr. Brené brown. In this book you’ll find her teachings on authenticity, connection, courage, the difference between shame and guilt and more.
a journey into yin yoga - travis eliot
If you’re at all interested in a yin yoga practice, this is a great read. Travis shares everything he knows about yoga and intertwines sacred stories within. He sheds light on the postures and dives into some of the science behind the potency of this practice..
